So. The other evening the subject was broached. No conclusions were reached. Research must be completed and data compiled to determine the best option.

Why, where to go on vacation, of course!
Let's give some background information first. We usually go somewhere for our anniversary (Look at me, saying "usually"! We've only had one anniversary so far!) and we usually use the ride money from the entire year to go. (We set that money aside every week and pretend we don't have it - it's there if we need it, but otherwise it's the vacation fund.) We have no idea how much ride money we have this year because we don't count it. Anyway.
A asked me the other night where we were going on vacation. As if I just know these things. He has nowhere specific in mind - just wants to know where we are going. So now it has started.
Where in the world...ahem. Sorry. Where in the continental United States are we going to go? I have absolutely no idea, except that Florida is out. That was our honeymoon. And Branson is out. We did that last year. So many places are left to choose from!

Oh my has it been busy around here!
This weekend is my first ever rummage sale. I'm rather excited about it. That's probably because I've never had a rummage sale before...
Anyway, that means my little bitty house is full to bursting with stuff to sell! My mom hosted The Great Purge of 2011 at her house, so she had a lot of stuff, plus my Grandma and mother-in-law are contributing to the little box of stuff I would have had on my own. You know. If you don't count the books. I have plenty of them for sale.
This weekend we mowed our jungle...ahem. I mean we mowed our yard. And then A let me use the tiller for the garden by myself - we both laughed at that. I'm not the fastest study on that we'll just say. (It ran away with me a little bit...literally.) But now my sugar snap peas and green onions are planted, so hopefully they will grow! I have been wanting peas ever since last year's garden, but we didn't get them planted in time.
My two sisters are both graduating the next two weekends - one from high school, one from college. I feel old. And then there will be a graduation party. I'm kind of excited about this, because I won't be the center of attention and can just sit and visit unobtrusively. I hope there's cake.
I think A and I are going to watch a movie tonight. We were loaned 3 of them, so we'd better get started!
And maybe I can convince him that it's really a good idea to get rid of stuff...maybe we can find some more rummage before Friday.

Pampered Chef galore!
Well, my Pampered Chef party officially “closed” yesterday. It was fantastic! Far surpassed my expectations – my party sold over $500 worth of products! This means that as the hostess I won 2 half price items, and $90 worth of free product. But wait! That’s not all. The August hostess special was an extra $50 of free product if you sell more than $500. So I get 2 half price items and $140 of free product! And that’s not even all. The other hostess special is 60% off one of 3 different items. So that’s a 60% off item, 2 half price items and $140 of free product. You could just have knocked me over with a feather when I found out my party had done so well. I am very thankful that so many people support me so much.
Anyway, last night was the phone call with my consultant to finalize all the orders and pick out my “prizes”. I really wanted an 11 inch grill pan, but no matter which way you sliced it, it really took a chunk of money, or almost all of my free stuff (it’s regularly priced at $135). So I won’t be getting the skillet. Which is really ok with me, since I don’t HAVE to have a Pampered Chef one – any old grill pan is hunky dory! And I wanted to get as much out of my awards as I could. Make it stretch kind of, you know? So here is what I chose (you can go to www.pamperedchef.com to see pictures of all the different products or you can click on the links below):
Free Products:
1. Quik Stir pitcher (2 quart size): very cool things – they stir your drink without a spoon!
2. Large Bar Pan: this is stoneware and one of the things I’m most excited to get
3. Food Chopper: you’ve all seen these – chop veggies nice and small with no knife
4. Egg Slicer plus: also good for fruits (kiwi, strawberries) and small softer veggies
5. Serrated Peeler: I don’t really know how to describe this one. Rest assured, it is cool.
6. Classic Batter Bowl: oven safe, microwave safe, dishwasher safe, comes with a lid, is really big. Come on, what’s not to like here?
7. Measure-All cup, 2 cup size: measures dry and wet ingredients, just flip it over! Yay!
8. Citrus Peelers: got 2 of these. I can’t peel oranges (or any citrus, really) to save my life, so I’m excited for these little dudes!
9. I-slice: this is one of A’s choices. It slices plastic wrap envelopes, papers, whatever you want. And it’s a lovely shade of cranberry.
10. Mini serving spatula: because how else do you get food out of a pan?
11. Large serving spatula: for those really BIG jobs….
My two half price item choices are a large bamboo serving bowl and a rectangle stone (it seems very multi-purpose to me). For my 60% off item I chose the stainless mesh colanders (it’s a set of three) and I’m very excited about them, too.
After adding up all the full-price totals, I’m getting a little over $230 worth of stuff for about $50. Can you beat that? Seriously?
I mailed off the check to the consultant today so hopefully all this stuff will come in soon. I’m kind of excited for everyone to get their items. I want to see how much they like them!

My books will have homes!! (Besides the floor.)
Exciting news! At least for me.
Yesterday, A went to a job where the guy they were working for (we’ll call him Bob. I have no idea what his actual name is. Neither does A.) has apparently recently moved from a 2000-something square foot house to a 1000-something square foot house.
Translation: Bob has too much furniture for his current home.
Further translation: Bob has to pay $60 a month to store said furniture overage.
Translation-so-in-depth-its-really-not-a-tranlation-anymore: Bob wants to sell said furniture to rid himself of the storage fee.
And he wants to sell it cheap.
He has 3, possibly 4, bookcases. That he wants to sell for $20 according to A.
***TWENTY DOLLARS.***

That’s crazy. But wonderful for me!
So I think tomorrow evening A and I will be making a trip to look at and most likely purchase said bookcases.
Which is a very good thing since I will be going to a book sale after work on Friday with a friend…

Birthday/Christmas money splurge!
I have some major birthday/Christmas money (at least $120) burning a hole in my figurative pocket right now! First off, I want to just say that I in no way receive this kind of money on a yearly basis. This is a result of my incredible amazing packrat skills. I tend to shove any money received in birthday cards and the like BACK into the card…so that I forget it exists entirely. Then, months, or sometimes even years later, when I clean out stuff and go through old cards, Voila! New money!
It works for me. (And I never never never throw out or pack away a card without first making sure that NO money has been left in there…)
Anyway, now some of this money has made an appearance and I have decided (pretty much) what I’m going to splurge on. I just haven’t quite geared up the courage to drop such a large amount on one item that is not a necessity yet.
I want to get…an iPod Nano.
I think it comes in gorgeous colors (I like the blue one) and it would hold about 800 more songs than my current mp3 player, which I’ve had for awhile now. So I know I would get use out of it (from past experience). I love listening to music while I workout or during slower times at work to keep my productivity up (read: not so hard to stay awake).
And it would be great for car trips. I’m also thinking that because it’s such a big brand, it would be more compatible with other technology than an off-brand mp3 player can be (you know, like with car gadgets and stuff).
So what do you think?

What's been happening!
Sorry I’ve been MIA for a little while. Not too much going on, and then a 4 day weekend contributed to my just in general blog laziness. So here’s what’s going on…
This past weekend my sister H was home from college, so Friday night I went with H and M to watch Valentine’s Day. It was good! I liked how the story played out with so many hidden connections. (I don’t want to give away too much!)
Saturday, I went with Mom, Grandma, and H and M to shop for M’s junior prom dress. It was lots of fun! The colors are so much more vibrant than they were when I started shopping for prom dresses (about 6 years ago!). I love love LOVE the bright colors and the ‘princess’ dresses are beautiful! She found a beautiful dress and we had lots of fun having her try different styles on.
Sunday, aka Valentine’s Day, A surprised me with a trip out to eat at the Cracker Barrel. Yes, I know, that’s not typical V-day fare, but I LOVE the Cracker Barrel. I always eat breakfast food…and always eat way too much. But since I’m only ever there for special occasions, I don’t feel too bad about it. Every time we go, I tell A that next time we should order something off the regular menu and branch out…and every time we go I order off the breakfast menu. What can I say? I am a creature of habit.
Yesterday was a holiday for me and A had a snow day (which he was bummed about. He is always disappointed when they can’t work because of the weather.) so we messed around the house for a while, did some laundry, and then….went grocery shopping!
I like grocery shopping and don’t really view it as a chore as long as I have a nice span of a few hours to devote to it so I don’t feel rushed. I like comparing prices and ingredients and comparing different stores prices on different items. Plus, it’s a nice time for A and I to spend together without worrying about chores! We have always enjoyed shopping together…I’d say 85% of the time we were dating was spent going to Walmart! (Just ask anyone!) Yesterday was a particularly successful trip. We paid very close attention to the value of the coupons we were using and the actual prices of things, and managed to get more food (or it seems like it from the look of our overflowing pantry and freezer!) for about $100 less than we usually spend! Wahoo for savings!!
That’s been the extent of our long weekend pretty much. I hope you all had a fantastic one as well!

Productivity is at an all-time high!
At least at our house.
Let me just say now that this weekend was one of the most productive I’ve had in QUITE a while…
Friday of course, I got to stay home with A (New Year’s Day!) and we just went crazy cleaning and organizing and arranging. Our house looked much better afterwards (not so cluttered with stuff and more livable), but we had not accomplished a single thing off my list.
Did I mention I started out this weekend with a list? Well, I did. I was super excited to have 3 whole days with no major events or shopping or trips planned so I made a list of everything that I would like to get accomplished by today (Monday—end of weekend, *sigh*). It was pretty extensive. At least 9 things long. (Which really isn’t that much, I know. But they were all time-consuming projects!)
Yeah, and Friday we didn’t get a single item checked off the list. Which may have had a little something to do with us taking a pretty good-sized break after lunch to play some Super Mario Brothers on the Wii. Very entertaining, not very productive. But then A’s dad came over and they put down the wooden trim strip thingy between our kitchen and living room to make the divider between the laminate and linoleum look good. And it looks pretty darn awesome, let me tell you! (I’m really just excited that we don’t have raw-edged laminate in our house anymore. So that may be part of it.) Anywho.
I also finally (FINALLY!) downloaded all the pictures from A and my cameras. Which doesn’t sound that exciting. Until you figure in that these pictures included bridesmaids dress pictures, house shopping pictures (of the house we purchased of course), house fixing-up-in-progress pictures (ya know, paint and all that), Christmas pictures, and HONEYMOON pictures (800 and some honeymoon pictures, to be exact). It took me 2 HOURS to get all those onto the computer. And until I get them burned onto a CD and backed up, I’m still not deleting them from the cameras. So they may be on there for 6 months or so. But hopefully not. My goal is to pick out all our favorite pictures from the honeymoon and turn them into a hardcover photobook at www.kodakgallery.com (Mom found these online, and they look fabulous!). I’m excited to get started on that!

Yesterday, A and I whooped up on my list. We got at least 3 or 4 things knocked off it. Which is a lot when you consider that we cleaned off our office desk (not the office, just the DESK) and it took about 2 hours. Yeah, it was pretty packed with junk. But we had fun shredding the junk! And it looks fantastic now!
We printed some coupons offline, and organized our little coupon filer thingy, so we are prepared for grocery shopping next weekend. A first for us, that’s for sure! (I mean being prepared, not shopping. )
Now, the rest of my list will have to be accomplished in the evenings when I get home from work….but I think we can do it!

For now, I like Halloween
I don’t think I’ve mentioned yet quite how much I’m looking forward to Halloween night this year. (Let me just say why this is noteworthy: I generally dislike Halloween a great deal. I mean I DO NOT LIKE IT. And never have, really.)
Anyway, this year I am quite looking forward to Halloween.
For the trick or treaters of course! This year I’m actually in a place where I might possibly actually get some. Maybe. And I have a paper box full of little baggies of candy to hand out to the kiddos! (Yeah, that’s right. If you are a big kiddo, you know, like in high school or something, you ain’t getting no candy from me. Just sayin’.) So I am very much looking forward to Halloween!

Happy Birthday to me!
This weekend was actually pretty fabulous. No crazy house problems that I know of yet anyway. And A and I actually found time to do a little relaxing. It was wonderful. (We are both working on our guilt—we have so much to do we feel guilty if we sit for a few minutes NOT working. We are learning to realize that we have time to get everything done and are not on a deadline. But it’s hard! Neither of us thrives in chaos.)
Saturday, we stayed home. Surprise! Yes, we stayed home. Well, kind of. We went shopping that evening, but it was not a we-have-to-go-shopping-and-get-groceries-or-we-will-starve kind of shopping trip. It was a last minutes shopping trip by A for my birthday, and I tagged along. (No, I did not pick my presents. I moseyed in the book aisle of Walmart while he shopped for me and took it out to the truck and hid it, and then we continued together. I ain’t a peeker!) We ended up getting a whole bunch, and I mean BUNCH of Christmas ornaments…and looking at a tree, which we did not buy. So now we have LOTS of ornaments and no tree to put them on. But there is still time! But I may have to brave the Black Friday misery for the first time in my life to try and get a tree. I sincerely hope that does not happen. It was nice to go shopping together without a deadline or a hectic full list to finish off. We did that all the time prior to crunch-time wedding planning, and it was a good thing to do something like that again. It was some “us” time where we weren’t stressed by trying to put our house together. Which is not THAT stressful, but is, nonetheless.
And then, holy smokes where did that come from, yesterday was my 24th birthday! I was amazed that it came so quickly! Usually I’m looking forward to it at least a week ahead of time, but this year with so much going on (ya know, like a wedding) it kind of slipped on the priority list! (Hence the last minute shopping trip…) It was a wonderful birthday! A and I got up and he made me pancakes (with a little preliminary help from me, since neither of us has really ever cooked pancakes by ourselves. I know, we are kind of pitiful. But we are learning fast!). Cinnamon pancakes, no less! They were quite yummy. Then after church, he helped me plant another row of bulbs before it started raining (only a couple more rows to go!), and we piddled around on the computer and decorating for Halloween the rest of the afternoon. I got a call from one of my best friends, which was great, and then we headed to my parents’ house for my birthday supper! Meatloaf and mashed potatoes, mmm!! Delish, of course! I’m so glad I have leftovers…
We all sat around and I had some lovely presents (new purse and a beautiful Christmas bonbon dish!! And a Beyonce CD. I quite like her. But I digress.) and then watched Edward Scissorhands (which none of us had ever seen) and ate birthday cake and ice cream.
A and I went home around 9 and proceeded to fill up our candy bags for Halloween trick-or-treaters. Which could have waited except A had dumped the candy all over (I mean ALL OVER) the kitchen table before we left…Will we ever quit starting big projects at bedtime? I just don’t know…
All in all, it was a lovely enjoyable relaxing weekend and birthday. And now I’m listening to Beyonce everywhere I go so I can learn the words and all that good stuff…and I think I’ll switch purses tonight! ☺
Oh yeah, and I made some of the most wonderful unhealthy enchiladas on Saturday...If I think of it I'll post the recipe sometime...
Saturday, we stayed home. Surprise! Yes, we stayed home. Well, kind of. We went shopping that evening, but it was not a we-have-to-go-shopping-and-get-groceries-or-we-will-starve kind of shopping trip. It was a last minutes shopping trip by A for my birthday, and I tagged along. (No, I did not pick my presents. I moseyed in the book aisle of Walmart while he shopped for me and took it out to the truck and hid it, and then we continued together. I ain’t a peeker!) We ended up getting a whole bunch, and I mean BUNCH of Christmas ornaments…and looking at a tree, which we did not buy. So now we have LOTS of ornaments and no tree to put them on. But there is still time! But I may have to brave the Black Friday misery for the first time in my life to try and get a tree. I sincerely hope that does not happen. It was nice to go shopping together without a deadline or a hectic full list to finish off. We did that all the time prior to crunch-time wedding planning, and it was a good thing to do something like that again. It was some “us” time where we weren’t stressed by trying to put our house together. Which is not THAT stressful, but is, nonetheless.
And then, holy smokes where did that come from, yesterday was my 24th birthday! I was amazed that it came so quickly! Usually I’m looking forward to it at least a week ahead of time, but this year with so much going on (ya know, like a wedding) it kind of slipped on the priority list! (Hence the last minute shopping trip…) It was a wonderful birthday! A and I got up and he made me pancakes (with a little preliminary help from me, since neither of us has really ever cooked pancakes by ourselves. I know, we are kind of pitiful. But we are learning fast!). Cinnamon pancakes, no less! They were quite yummy. Then after church, he helped me plant another row of bulbs before it started raining (only a couple more rows to go!), and we piddled around on the computer and decorating for Halloween the rest of the afternoon. I got a call from one of my best friends, which was great, and then we headed to my parents’ house for my birthday supper! Meatloaf and mashed potatoes, mmm!! Delish, of course! I’m so glad I have leftovers…

Any other Faithful Thinkers out there?
